WP 4.1: Development of enhanced mechanical separation efficiency by combined separation techniques, pre and post-treatment

Fellow (ER): Olga Popovic, UTO

Olga has an MSc in Soil Chemistry from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has a PhD in Waste Treatment and Technologies at the University of Copenhagen.

Olga’s project involves the development of enhanced mechanical separation efficiency by combined separation methods, pre and post-treatment. Olga will perform laboratory and field scale experiments on optimization of biochar and flocculants addition to raw slurry (as pre-treatments) prior to screw press and centrifugation (two most common mechanical separations). The following step will include post treatments of solid (batch experiment) and liquid (filtration) separation fractions obtained from the first experiment.

Supervisors: Professor Paolo Balsari (UTO) and Dr Fabrizio Gioelli (UTO)
